Icon painter specializing in sacred iconography
“Each icon is a silent chant. It does not cry out, it illuminates.”
Irina Tonas-Pugnetti is a Franco-Bulgarian artist specializing in iconography. Trained in the great schools of sacred art in Russia — in Novgorod, Vladimir, and Saint Petersburg — she has developed a refined style that blends Byzantine tradition with lyrical sensitivity. Her icons are distinguished by the delicacy of their faces, the vividness of their colors, and a subtle, almost spiritual light. Inspired by the old masters, she has traveled across the Balkans and Europe to study works preserved up to the 19th century. Her work captivates through its elegance, depth, and emotional power.
